Alumni

Students who sit the ABBC Round 1 Quiz have the opportunity to become a member of the ABBC Alumni and move a step closer on their journey towards a possible career in science.

The ABBC Alumni links students with the scientific communities in the universities of each state of Australia and New Zealand who are associated with the ABBC (see link "ABBC in your state").

The scientists in these institutions are involved in the ABBC to stimulate and encourage students' interest in science, and in neuroscience in particular, by passing on to students - the next generation - their enthusiasm for the exciting, dynamic and rewarding frontier of scientific discovery.

Students will receive, an ABBC 2010 Participation Certificate. Many schools present these Certificates to students at School Assembly.

We plan to keep in touch with students (if students elect to receive emails), and also explore the possibility of getting ABBC Alumni members together - perhaps on university Open Days, or in virtual space, for example. We will be seeking students and school ideas.

ABBC 2007 finalists enjoy each others company at the Australian-New Zealand Brain Bee National Final Dinner in Melbourne's famous China Town restaurant precinct.

(From right) James Bennett from St Paul's School, Bald Hills, Queensland, George Shand from Kings College, Auckland, New Zealand (Third place), William Zhang from Auckland Grammar School, Wellington, New Zealand (Second place), Dilshan Seneviratna from Baulkham Hills High, NSW, 2007 Australian Brain Bee Champion, Quinn McGennisken from Lavalla College, Traralgon, Victoria, and Daren Tan from Christ Church Grammar School, Perth, WA.
